“I have one of those lives where, like, every day is a dream come true,” says Michael Shannon in the clip above, as he cheerfully observes Jimmy Fallon buttoning up a very special gift. “Like, I never thought in a million years when I was out playing in the creek behind my house in Kentucky when I was five, that I would someday be on a late night talk show and force a very famous man to put an Alvin and the Chipmunks shirt on.”
That’s exactly what he’s done, though.
As the Knives Out star explains, he previously told the Tonight Show host he likes to listen to Alvin and the Chipmunks when he’s getting ready to go on stage — and after the segment, the show’s boss sent Shannon the onesies as a gift.
During his Monday night appearance on The Tonight Show, Shannon and Fallon put them to good use, wrestling in them while discussing Shannon’s latest acting projects.
If only all interviews ended like this.
